Transcription: Mayor Tremblay Greeting - Yiddish Theatre Festival
Bonjour,
It is my pleasure to support the Segal Centre's first ever Montreal International Yiddish Theatre Festival taking place from June 17th to June 25th.
This festival is a wonderful demonstration of the vitality of the Centre.
It is indeed a great honour for the City of Montreal to host this wonderful event and partake in the various activities that will be taking place throughout our city.
We know the arts play a key role in terms of promoting intercultural understanding.
Studies have also shown that exposure to the performing arts delivers positive results to our youth.
The Segal Centre for Performing Arts is a true leader in creating and bringing arts and culture to Montrealers of all ages.
The generosity and contribution of Alvin Segal in the centre serves as an example for members of the business community.
This first ever International Yiddish Theatre Festival is a truly fitting way to mark 50 years of the Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre's tremendous impact in Montreal and abroad.
It is also a wonderful recognition of the richness of our diversity and our international reputation as a city of festivals.
I invite all Montrealers and visitors to attend the International Yiddish Theatre Festival that will be taking place in June.
C'est un rendez-vous pour les Montréalaises et Montréalais.
Longue vie au Festival!
